I know this is a time when it’s all too easy to stay out just a little too long in the sun – or not realize that you really needed suncream for that quick shopping trip you make. How many of us come back a little too pink?
This “Goo” is amazing for soothing sunburnt skin. With aloe vera and coconut oil, it’s the perfect base for smoothing on your skin – without the stickiness of aloe vera!
With summer here and in full swing it’s about time I post the recipe for this stuff. It’s awesome. I’ve always hated the sticky feeling that straight aloe vera leaves and this mix doesn’t do that. It goes on smooth, absorbs into your skin and offers pain relief like nothing I’ve every tried before for sunburn. You will love it.
It’s pretty easy. I mixed equal parts coconut oil and aloe vera gel. You can go as organic and natural as you want with the aloe vera. Mine is the standard stuff you find with lidocaine added (why not fix my sunburn medically AND naturally?) I have this in an 8 oz jar-so I’ve got around 1/2 c aloe and 1/2 cup coconut oil. I then added 2 Tbsp witch hazel, 20 drops lavender essential oil, 20 drops marjoram essential oil and 5 drops peppermint. Lavender is soothing, marjoram is pain-killing and peppermint is cooling. You could probably add frankincense or helicrysm oil for healing too if you wanted (you can check out my oil dealer here). Mix them all up and voila!
